A Portrait isn't a Fact
A portrait is often considered to be factual, documenting someone as they are and without much bias this view of portraiture is false many things can affect the final piece such as: lighting, pose, editing and location.
A studio portrait is inherently less factual than a street one, but the street portrait can also be very biased and opinionated due to the subjects posing and if its staged, how the photographer chooses to portray the subject, a low angled shot will have a different feel and mood to it than a straight on or high angle shot.
The way that the lighting is set up can also affect the outcome by creating a darker or lighter mood than what was actually happened, a street style portrait can be affected like this with the use of of camera flash which allows more control of lighting without using a whole studio set up. This can be seen in the following photographs.
